When Elderly Man Is Moved To Nursing Home, Family Goes To House And Makes Stunning Discovery

Paul Russel has an 82-year-old relative that was moved to a nursing home after his dementia got so bad. The man would forget things left and right.

He wasn’t in the condition to live by himself anymore and the family had tried to make the decision much earlier but to no avail, until one day they wouldn’t let it go any longer.

When he was in the nursing home, Pat and his family went to the man’s house after remembering he had a cat named Siam.

They wanted to make sure it was being taken care of until they figured out what they were going to do with the rest of the man’s things.

When they got there they found one cat right away but someone had mentioned something about a second cat. They weren’t sure so they thought they’d look around just in case. Then out of the corner of Pat’s eye, a huge creature darted across the house down into the cellar.

For how big it was, it was fast so they thought it had to be the other cat.

They went down to investigate and it wasn’t easy finding the cat but when they finally did they couldn’t believe their eyes.

At first, they thought there was a blanket covering it, only to realize that the poor thing was severely overweight and matted to the point where ginormous dreadlocks were forming.

They found out the cat’s name is Hidey and they took her to the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to get some help. It was there where they had to put Hidey under to shave all the fur off. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable that would be.

It ended up being over 2 pounds of fur that was shaved off of her. They knew after that there were only two things they could do… Put the cat up for adoption or take care of it themselves.

They knew they couldn’t leave the poor cat after all she’d been through so they decided to take in both the man’s cats and take care of them.

It took them a while to warm up to their new home but are now loving it and are very comfortable.

After all of this, they realized how dangerous it really was having this man living by himself. He couldn’t even remember that he had cats to take care of.

Vets said that if Paul and his family wouldn’t have gone into the house it’s likely the cats might not have made it… They saved the sweet kitty’s lives.

This story should be a lesson to raise awareness on how to help loved ones who suffer from Altzheimers and to know what to do and what not to do.

If you’re thankful these cats are finally being taken care of and Paul and his family stepped in to save the day, please SHARE with everyone you know.
