Delaware firefighters didn’t hesitate to help when they received a call that a dog named “Boo” had fallen through an icy pond. This video captures the amazing rescue.
It was a cold day in February when the Elsmere and Cranston Fire Departments responded to a 911 call that a dog had fallen through the ice of a pond, and was unable to get himself out. The firefighters quickly went to the scene where they caught sight of Boo stuck in the frigid water. A group of the firemen borrowed a boat from a neighbor and floated out to the dog, carrying an ax and crowbar.
In a short amount of time, they were able to pull Boo up into the boat. They immediately sent him to a nearby animal hospital to be checked out and receive treatment.
The Elsmere Fire Company spokesman Frank Maul said, “The way we look at it, it’s a life… We go out, and we try to do the best we can, especially if it’s the family’s pet. It’s the community, and we try to do community service.”
