Round-bottomed beetroot is found to be sweeter than flat-bottomed ones. When you are cooking beets, try not to overheat them as the nutrients will seep out and into the water instead. Remove beet skin before placing it into a saucepan.
If you choose to make juice, add in a quarter slice of lemon to the beetroot to raise the nutrient intake rate and enhance the taste.
People who have a history of oxalate-filled kidney stones should limit/avoid eating beets. The juice is strong so its wise to consume a little considering if your body isn’t used to it. Starting it out for the first time, use a medium sized beetroot once a week, gradually going towards a full beetroot a week.
